Holden Colorado MY 14/15 147kW Intercooler Hose (Cold Side) Workaround

Gotta love your Holden Colorado - there were plenty of them sold and they've proven to be an enduring workhorse, but when it comes to intercooler hoses, they are certainly reaching end of life and if you're reading this, you know they're prone to failure.

Here at SAAS, we've worked hard at trying to cover as many bases as possible when it comes to the Colorado because if there's one vehicle that can have a myriad of iterations, it's the Colorado. GM had a tendancy to use different intercooler connectors, different throttle body inlets, different engine outputs - in fact, if it could have been made different, it was.

What's so quirky about the 2014/2015 Model Year?

A particular case in point is the MY 2014/2015 model. Here, the engine is generally the 147kW/500Nm version using the same plastic inlet elbow on the throttle body as the later 2015+ models, however the factory intercooler has a metal outlet pipe on the cold side for the 2014/2015 model. Now, as there are significantly more 2015+ models, we produced a hose for that setup which also has the advantage of superseding the plastic throttle body inlet and runs all the way to the intercooler - the SSH5206. The routing of this hose follows the right path on a MY 2014/2015, however the hose's overall length is too long given the use of the metal outlet pipe on the earlier model.

And the hack?

Pretty simple really, but be aware, this does involve cutting the SSH5206 hose so you will need a very sharp blade, and you should measure twice - even three times. Unfortunately, once you have a crack and a cut, the pipe is yours. Forever. So be careful.

• Confirm you DO have the metal outlet on the original intercooler

• Remove the factory rubber cold pipe being careful not to damage/tear/puncture it - you may be returning it to service.

• Remove the plastic throttle body inlet elbow

• Confirm the throttle body diameter - must be 67mm
